In early 2023, comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) was discovered, which could offer us a spectacle in the sky that is clearly visible to the naked eye in mid-October 2024.
It is difficult to say with certainty whether and how well the comet will actually be visible. However, its appearance is reason enough for us to dedicate an entire event to the topic of comets. Where do these so-called “dirty snowballs” actually come from? Do we know how many of them there are? And how likely is it that one of them will one day hit the earth?
