Evolution is rarely seen in such an aesthetic way: Orchid blossoms fill the dome of the planetarium with their beauty, guests are immersed in the sophisticated shapes and experience first-hand the botanical tricks used by plants to spread their genetic material. Mountains of sheets of paper on which Charles Darwin once noted down his research are folded in the dome projection to form the paper ocean and the research ship Beagle or the jungle in which orchid hunters pursued timeless fame.

Like no other medium, the planetarium's 360° screen makes the splendor of orchid blossoms and Darwin's contemporary history tangible.

A production of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Communication at Kiel University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Botanical Garden of Kiel University and the animation studio Tilt.
